In the summer of 2012 we were able to broaden our educational concept with the inauguration of our own little workshop. The new vocational component of our educational concept is targeting specifically those children, whose future will not be in academic education, thus providing them with better perspectives in their lives after the Omaruru Children’s Haven.

A forty foot container filled with various in kind donations (among other for example some high quality tools) has been set in a concrete foundation and equipped with windows, work benches and a door. With the help and under the supervision of local craftsmen our children are introduced to the basics of wood and metal working. The children especially enjoy the repair of and tinkering with our bicycles.

Even though this program is primarily aimed at boys age thirteen to eighteen we of course also try to encourage the girls living in the Omaruru Children’s Haven to participate.
